Testimony of Ksenia Tarakanova: A Russian citizen's account of the Rudnev case

Rudnev Case - Testimony of Ksenia

A life marked by legality and transparency

Ksenia Tarakanova, a 49-year-old Russian citizen with a solid professional background in international corporations, presented her testimony to the Argentine courts about the events she experienced during her detention in Bariloche. With three university degrees in global economics, international relations, and marketing, and with experience in global companies such as Schwarzkopf, McDonald's, and Lukoil, Tarakanova describes herself as a self-sufficient, honest, and deeply law-abiding person.

During her testimony, the witness emphasized that she has never been involved in illegal activities nor has she participated in any type of legal proceedings: "Your Honor, I am not guilty of anything, I am not at fault, and I have never in my life been involved in any legal proceedings of this kind."she stated, making it clear that her life has been oriented toward legality and compliance with professional and social norms.

Arbitrary detention and violations of fundamental rights

Tarakanova's account describes an arrest that, according to her, took place without clear justification and with direct violations of her rights. Not speaking Spanish and lacking translators, she was in a state of total confusion during the first days of her detention. She recounted how she was taken to the police station, handcuffed, and forced to remain seated in a chair for days, without adequate food or rest.
“I spent several days sitting in a chair with handcuffs on. On the third day, I simply fainted and fell unconscious onto the dirty floor... My heart was beating at just over 30 beats per minute; it could have stopped. And no one around me could translate or explain anything to me.”

he stated. His testimony highlights the seriousness of the situation and the negligence of the authorities towards a foreign citizen, revealing a failure to comply with legal protocols and provide medical care. Part of his testimony and images of the context of his detention can be seen in this informative video at YouTube, which provides additional details about the case.

In addition to the physical conditions, Tarakanova reported psychological threats and the inability to communicate with her family. She tried several times to contact her father, who was seriously ill in Moscow, but was not allowed to do so, which increased her distress and emotional stress.

Thwarted plans and unfounded accusations

Before her arrest, Tarakanova had arrived in Argentina as a tourist with concrete plans for an extended stay in Bariloche. She owns property in Moscow with sufficient passive income to support herself and planned to continue her life independently and legally in the country. During her stay, she consulted with around 15 lawyers and immigration experts to correctly and transparently process her residency, including temporary asylum and other legal alternatives through employment.

His testimony reflects the personal and economic impact of detention: On March 22, I was unable to fly to Uruguay; I lost my money, I lost my ticket... I am still under terrible stress; I find it absurd, it is simply horrific,"he said. These statements highlight how the detention disrupted not only his travel plans, but also his life plans and financial stability.

Tarakanova also denounced the falsity of the accusations against her and the manipulation of evidence, including illegal surveillance of her vehicle using electronic sensors installed at the request of the police. She described these acts as "absurd" and a violation of her personal rights and international conventions.

Support and clarity through translators and advocates

Tarakanova emphasized the need to carefully verify and study everything before acting: Since it has always been important for me to study everything in detail, to verify that it is legal and correct, I met with legal advisors and lawyers. I sought a lot of advice because I needed to find out everything in detail,", she explained. This approach highlights her meticulous nature and her intention to comply with the law at all times.

She also highlighted the solidarity and integration with the Russian community in Argentina, where she feels supported and backed in the face of the uncertainty and vulnerability caused by her detention. Her account underscores the importance of respecting the rights of foreign citizens and the need for transparent and fair judicial proceedings.

Innocence and denunciation of injustice

Finally, Tarakanova called for justice and respect for human rights: I have told you my life story so that you can understand what kind of person I am... I have never been part of any criminal organizations or done anything illegal. This is all completely absurd,", she concluded. Her statement provides a detailed account of the irregular procedures that, according to her testimony, surround the arrest and connection to the Rudnev case, reaffirming his position of innocence and the need for an objective review of the judicial process.

The case of Ksenia Tarakanova, like that of so many others detained in connection with the Rudnev case, raises an inevitable question for the Public Prosecutor's Office and, in particular, to prosecutor Fernando Arrigo: why is a case being kept open without evidence, without real victims, and with obvious procedural irregularities?

What is the point of prolonging the suffering of innocent people, depriving them of their freedom and destroying their lives?
Argentine society—and the world watching—deserve a clear answer.
